Around the fourth day of class students feel comfortable and confused enough to ask the obvious question, that I for whatever reason forget to address: what is humanities, anyway?

At BSGE, humanities covers a variety of topics centered around history. We cover geography, social, political, economic, and cultural history. In addition,students will work to understand the tasks and approaches of historians.  By reading and discussing primary documents and the works of selected historians, students will learn to identify point-of-view, evaluate sources, and develop their own interpretations. Humanities at BSGE is more than just the names and dates of history.
